It's called carbon dating. Do you know how to carbon date?

I trust scientists more than I trust a priest.

I didn't ask you to trust a priest. I asked if you knew how to carbon date

Yeah, and why would scientist have a reason to lie? The church people aren't lying, it's what they believe, but scientists wouldn't have any reason to lie about it.
edit] I don't know how to carbon date though. ^^

I know. It's not like they personally benefit from being like, "Oh yeah I just discovered our planet is x amount older than your stupid church says"

I don't sit back and think to myself that scientists sit around and think of elaborate lies to feed the common man, though that would be kind of funny, if I as a scientist just sat around and made up bull shit to get a laugh at the unsuspecting peoples that would tune into the discovery channel every day... Maybe they aren't lying, and like Ink clearly stated, it's what they believe...as far as the religious persons go), so maybe the scientists believe that their carbon dating is accurate when it really isn't. Is there any sure way to determine anything? It's called facts. I can't say I believe in what scientists say about anything unless what they say can be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt, and there is so much controversy revolving around this topic in the scientific world that I can't just put all my belief into scientists, in this matter.

People [Unless they have a lying addiction] need a reason to lie. And I'm pretty sure not every scientist in the world has a lying addiction.
And I'm pretty sure they made it very accurate otherwise how would they use it? They could test it on something they knew the age of so I'm sure they're not wildly guessing.

I didn't say scientists were lying.
and how can you say you're sure. "They could test it on something they knew the age of". have they? do you know?

Scientists are scientific, hence the name... They like to do things right and prove new things every day.

Well yeah, but evolution can be witnessed in species in present day, as evolution is from the mutation of DNA and said mutations can be traced in various species. Like bacteria that can become resistant to certain kinds of antibiotics. So yeah, since you can witness evolution in present day and don't need to use carbon dating and other things to see valid proff that it exists while all that you can use to see proof of creationism is the bible. Also, the bible wasn't originally writeen in English, or whatever, so obviously it had to be translated and translations can very easily go wrong and get things completely wrong, so there's no telling what was actually in the original bible.

so there's no telling what was actually in the original bible. you could learn greek and Hebrew the old testament having been written in Hebrew and the new testament having been written in greek.

Even so, some translations are lost...

Um, yeah, but I just said translations can go wrong, there could be words that are not translated correctly. And I mean, obviously they had a translator when they were first translating it that can read both Hebrew and Greek, so if they got it wrong then I would too.
